Committees

Our committees support and advise us in taking forward members' views and concerns

Optometrists at work

Our committees ensure that your views are reflected in our decision-making. All of our committees are made up of AOP Council members, the wider membership and representatives from other organisations we work in partnership with.

Hospital Optometrists Committee

The Hospital Optometrists Committee (HOC) represents the interests of our members who are employed by hospital NHS Trusts and NHS Foundation Trusts. It pro-actively develops good practice and seeks to maintain high standards of post-graduate education within hospital optometry. HOC also helps support communications between hospital optometrists and other professionals.

Policy Committee

The Policy Committee develops AOP policy positions and advises our Council and Board. It oversees our responses to external consultations from organisations such as the General Optical Council (GOC) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). It also supports our engagement with European policy and with our partners.
