Optometry Today (OT), in partnership with the Association of Optometrists and headline sponsor CooperVision, have announced an education event centred around myopia management

The event, MAYopia Day will be a full day of online webinar sessions which will offer interactive CPD points and is designed to support delegates professional development in the field.

The event, also developed in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Vision, Hoya and Essilor, will feature experts in the clinical area including Nicola Logan, Professor of Optometry and Director of Research at Aston University and Dr Manbir Nagra, an optometrist and researcher specialising in myopia, contact lenses and health technologies.

Webinar sessions will also feature from optometrist, researcher and inventor Dr Trusit Dave, Professor Mark Bullimore and Indie Grewal. Attendees may attend the full programme or can select specific sessions depending upon their individual preferences.

Speaking about the event, AOP Head of Education, Ian Beasley said: “Myopia has become an area of practice where clinicians have the opportunity to not only correct, but also influence the progression of myopia and improve clinical outcomes for their patients. With a rapidly changing evidence base and an ever-growing portfolio of clinical solutions available, it is important that practitioners are updated on the latest developments in the field and incorporate myopia management tools within their skillset.”

Head of Professional Services at CooperVision UK & Ireland, Christina Olner, said: “CooperVision is passionate about empowering eye care professionals (ECPs) to change the trajectory of childhood myopia. We are therefore delighted to partner with the AOP to support the Mayopia event”.

Each webinar session can hold up to 1000 attendees and there will five sessions to choose from, each offering one interactive CPD point.

Relevant sessions will be available to all types of attendees, from those who are new to myopia management to experienced practitioners aiming to update or consolidate their knowledge.
