Optometry Today  launches CET Survival Pack

CET Survival Pack designed for members and OT  subscribers

OT CET survival pack logoA new CET Survival Pack launches this week from Optometry Today (OT), the journal of the Association of Optometrists (AOP), and sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Vision.

The new pack is designed to help ensure practitioners can meet their education requirements before the end of the CET cycle. The current three-year CET cycle will end at midnight on 31 December and, with no grace period being given, practitioners must meet the cycle’s CET point and competency requirements before the deadline.

From 6 September AOP members and OT subscribers will be able to take online CET exams from the current cycle which cover all the competencies required for optometrists, dispensing opticians, contact lens opticians and therapeutic optometrists.

The pack contains nine CET exams, including two videos. New multiple-choice questions have been created for each exam in line with the General Optical Council’s (GOC’s) requirements. A total of nine non-interactive points are available.

Dr Ian Beasley, OT Clinical Editor and AOP Head of Education, said: “In light of COVID-19 many practitioners may have had extra time to complete online CET but there will also be a fair amount who haven’t had the same opportunity and are perhaps missing one or two competencies. This pack is designed to help practitioners gain those additional competencies and meet their targets to remain on the GOC register.”

OT’s CET Survival Pack will be available via OT’s CET pages until 28 December 2021. AOP members and OT subscribers can check how many CET points they have gained through OT by visiting their MyAOP or alternatively check via their MyGOC account.
