DVLA notifiable conditions list update

Working with the DVLA to reduce the range of conditions included on the list

We continue to work with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to update the notifiable conditions list announced earlier this year.

In October, the DVLA confirmed to us that it would revise its extended list of notifiable eye conditions following concerns raised by us.

The new list, published on the DVLA website, includes an extensive range of conditions which could mean that almost every driver receiving a sight test would need to contact them.

Commenting on the issue, AOP Chief Executive, Adam Sampson said: “We’re pleased that the DVLA have taken up the opportunity to work with us and utilise the skills in optometry to find a pragmatic solution, addressing our very serious concerns.

“We expect to see these changes published as quickly as possible to deliver an improved service for patients.”

The revisions being looked at by the DVLA will apply to Group 1 and Group 2 drivers.
