OC backs National Eye Health Week
More than 1000 events expected to take place to support NEHW
21 September 2016
The Optical Confederation (OC) has pledged its support to National Eye Health Week (NEHW) which began on Monday and runs for one week (19–25 September).
The annual awareness campaign aims to raise public awareness of the importance of regular sight tests and eye health. Organised by Eye Health UK, the body has confirmed that more than 1000 events are expected to take place across the seven days.
Chair of NEHW, David Cartwright, said: “We want the whole sector to inspire people to take better care of their eyes, realise how important regular eye examinations are, and how good vision correction enhances everyday lives.”
Chair of the OC, Chris Hunt, added: “NEHW is one of the sector's great successes, with everyone working together to help the public and save sight. We are also showcasing what community optical practices can do to deliver NHS eye health services out of hospital and closer to home. Good luck to everyone who takes part.”
