CHEC (Community Health and Eyecare) has announced a collaboration with Scope Eyecare that will see several continuing professional development (CPD) events for optometrists.

The collaboration will see two CPD workshops, with the first to be held on 5 October.

It is hoped that the session will enable attendees to learn more about the collaboration and also gain industry insight and training.

The event will feature guest speaker, Nikolina Budimlija, a consultant ophthalmologist and part of the Institute of Eye Surgery, who will discuss common corneal conditions.

The workshop will be held online through Zoom, running from 7-8pm. A registration link is available here

A second joint-CPD event has been planned for 29 November.

Jon Dore, chief operating officer of CHEC, said: “This collaboration with Scope Eyecare allows both organisations to share expertise and support community optometrists with their ongoing educational development.”

Dore suggested the workshops will be helpful for optometrists’ day-to-day work.

“We are excited to see this partnership flourish as we plan further joint events,” Dore said.

The collaboration forms part of a continued expansion for CHEC, with a new site due to open in Accrington this November.

Tom Freyne, managing director at Scope, said: “We are proud to collaborate on quality education events with CHEC.”

Remarking that both healthcare companies have a strong focus on the education of optometrists and healthcare professionals, Freyne said that this makes for a “strong partnership.”
