Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) has launched its fundraising push for the Christmas period.
Launched on Giving Tuesday (28 November), the charity’s Christmas appeal aims to raise £5000.
The appeal will run until the end of January 2024.
In the 20 years since it was founded, VCHP has helped over 18,000 patients.
The charity is currently expanding with the opening of new clinics, and aims to reach its 20,000th patient in 2024.
Raising an initial £5000 over the festive period will help to kick-start the work that will take place in 2024, the charity said.
Giving Tuesday is a world-wide initiative that focuses on charitable giving, including the giving of time. The 2023 theme is ‘Together We Give.’
VCHP is promoting the appeal with posts and videos on their social media channels.
The charity is also looking for supporters to amplify their message, on social media and elsewhere. If you are a volunteer with VCHP or would like to help, please contact Alison Gordon, community and corporate fundraiser for VCHP.
Karen Gennard, new clinic development manager at VCHP, said: “We provide eye care and spectacles to those experiencing homelessness. We are a small charity working hard to make a real impact.
