08 April 2016
The Macular Society has appointed Tessa Barrett as its new head of service delivery, the charity announced yesterday (7 April).
Ms Barrett, who is currently chief executive of Open Sight, a Hampshire-based charity for visually impaired people, will be joining the Macular Society later this year to manage the delivery of the organisation’s support and rehabilitation services.
Commenting on the transition, Ms Barrett said: “It was not an easy decision to leave Open Sight, but to be given the opportunity to move to the Macular Society and support it as it continues to develop its services is a challenge I couldn’t resist.
“Having worked closely with the charity for a number of years I know the real difference its support and services make to the lives of people affected by sight loss. It is a privilege to be involved with the organisation as it continues to make such a significant impact.”
Chief executive of the Macular Society, Cathy Yelf, added: “We’re extremely pleased to welcome Tessa to our team and she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience of both the charity and sight loss sectors. Her appointment will allow us to develop our vital services, which provide essential support to people with macular disease.”
