Join us for a day of online education dedicated to paediatrics. Each session will be delivered by an expert on a range of key topics to allow practitioners to consolidate their knowledge and effectively manage children in clinical practice.

Session 1: Paediatrics made easy
This session will delve into age-appropriate vision testing for children and the techniques used to assess the visual function of paediatric patients. The lecture will also address the normative values for both vision and refractive error, and provide a guide to when it is appropriate to prescribe for children, in particular those under 10 years of age. Finally, delegates will be informed on how to adapt the environment for children, safeguarding and other pearls of wisdom.
Learning outcomes
- Practitioners will recognise techniques for assessing children's vision and identify normative values for vision and refractive error, and how these guide prescribing decisions
- Practitioners will recognise safeguarding issues in children.

Tania Constable
Tania is an experienced specialist paediatric optometrist working in Dublin. For a number of years, she worked in the national paediatric hospital and a secondary care community-based clinic.
Tania was one of the first optometrists to hold the College of Optometrists’ higher certificate in paediatric eye care and was awarded an MSc in clinical optometry by Cardiff University in 2022.
She has a special interest in the development of eye care resources for children with additional needs and established one of the first additional needs eye clinics within the Irish Health Service. She is currently president of Optometry Ireland.
