Blue Light Card

Optometrists and dispensing opticians are entitled to the Blue Light Card discount scheme

Opticians

Optometrists and dispensing opticians can gain rewards and discounts through the Blue Light Card. This is a discount service that offers thousands of discounts on the High Street and online for the NHS, emergency services, social care sector and armed forces.

Through the scheme members have access to a range of official discounts from over 15,000 national retailers and independent businesses as well as the Blue Light Card app where live offers can be found across categories such as holidays, days out and electronics.

A physical or digital card can be used to access discounts when shopping in store. For online purchases, discount codes can be stored on the Blue Light Card website or app to be used at checkout.

Blue light membership costs £4.99 and is valid for two years.

To apply, new scheme members upload their General Optical Council registration number plus a form of personal ID that matches, such as a Passport or Driving Licence. Alternative forms of additional personal ID permitted include: Birth Certificate, EEA Member State Identity Card, UK Residence Permit or National Identity Card.

Membership can be renewed 30 days before it expires through the ‘My Card’ section in your blue light account. You will get an email reminder when renewal is due.

More information on how to apply and what retailers are involved in the scheme are available from the Blue Light Card website.
