Why work for us

We believe in creating outstanding work in a progressive and creative environment

AOP office

We offer talented professionals the opportunity to join a leading membership association that excels in supporting optometrists and industry experts. As an AOP employee, you have the autonomy to develop personally as well as professionally at a meritocratic, non-profit organisation.

Our values

Working to support others is at the heart of what we do. We protect, support and represent individual practitioners with a range of quality services, striving to provide the best for our members.

Training

We’re committed to enabling individuals to develop their skills and reach their full potential. We believe that guidance and training is a key contributor to success and develop our employees through performance reviews, strategic direction and specialised courses.

Where we work

Our bright, modern offices are based in Clerkenwell village, London. We offer a sociable staff area, kitchen and shower facilities, table tennis, secure bike storage, along with lots of other perks to help make work easier and more enjoyable.

Health and well-being

You can enjoy a variety of benefits during your career at the AOP. We encourage health and emotional wellbeing through our employee assistance programme, reimburse your eye tests and contribute towards the cost of glasses if you need them. We pay back the cost of your annual flu jab and provide you with fresh fruit, snacks and drinks.

Financial planning

At the AOP, we believe in performance-related pay and provide you with interest-free season ticket loan. We make a generous contribution towards your future, too, through our pension and life cover scheme, offering individual planning with professional advice.

Flexible working

To help employees achieve a work-life balance, we offer flexible working hours, a generous holiday package, plus the option to buy up to five additional days per year. We also recognise you may want to take a break, so you can apply for up to six months unpaid leave (subject to conditions) during your career with us.

Opportunities

We have a diverse range of professional roles at the AOP, including an in-house legal team, PR and marketing experts, journalists, clinical and policy professionals, education, events and membership experts, too.
