Over 130 hours of CPD delivered at 100% Optical 2022

The AOP hosted over 130 CPD accredited sessions between 23-25 April

Returning to ExCeL London for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, 100% Optical attracted visitors from across the profession.

Between the 23-25 April, delegates attended Continuing Profession Development (CPD) accredited sessions from world leading experts brought by the Association of Optometrists (AOP), the show’s official UK partner.

Facilitating over 130 hours of CPD, the AOP delivered on a wide range of education as lectures, workshops, and peer review sessions. Topics included competence in practice, community eye care pathways, myopia management and science innovations in soft contact lenses.

The Optical Academy also showcased emerging research in the field of diabetic retinopathy and use of OCT in glaucoma assessment.

Dr Ian Beasley, AOP Head of Education, said: “We were delighted to see attendance at this year’s 100% Optical matched pre-pandemic levels and that registrants were eager to get back into a live event environment and catch-up on that face-to-face contact that just hasn’t been possible over the last two years. We’re so glad to hear from delegates that it’s been a great opportunity to gain a head start on the GOC’s new CPD scheme as well as network with colleagues, listen to thought-provoking talks, and meet hundreds of exhibitors.”

More than 200 exhibitors provided delegates the chance to gain industry insights and see the latest trends and developments in optical technology.

On attending the event, optometrist and AOP Councillor, Josie Evans said: “It’s brilliant – such a lovely atmosphere. Everyone’s really positive, really engaged. I’ve seen some incredible talks.”

Last month, the AOP and award-winning events company Media 10, who organise the three-day event, announced their continued partnership to deliver the show for a further three years, until 2025. Plans for next year’s 100% Optical are already underway with dates confirmed as 25-27 February 2023.

The AOP’s journal, Optometry Today, will also continue as the show’s official media partner.
