New AOP education released for 100% Optical

100% Optical takes place at ExCeL London from 23-25 April 2022

The UK’s largest optical trade show, and one of the first major events for the sector since the start of the pandemic, 100% Optical 2022 is now just over a month away.

The three-day event, to be held between 23–25 April at London’s ExCeL centre, will host an array of educational and networking opportunities.

Four new CPD sessions have just been announced for the event, which include:

  • A lecture on the material science innovations surrounding soft contact lenses with Dr Byki Huntjens and Richard Smith
  • A session on what is meant by competence, how to work to it, and what that means for the future of optometric practice with Dr Peter Hampson and Kathy Jones
  • A discussion about community eye care pathways for people with learning disabilities with Trevor Hunter and Grace McGill
  • ‘Optical Academy’ – three early-career researchers presenting a summary of their current work to update practitioners on emerging research in their respective fields, including diabetic retinopathy and use of OCT in glaucoma assessment

Other highlights include a peer review on myopia management on all three days with Luan Henson, an eye care professional consultant for Essilor, and a discussion workshop on the Monday in the Optical Academy on domiciliary clinical cases with Zetun Arif, domiciliary partner at Specsavers.

The sessions will provide an early opportunity for 100% Optical delegates to secure points under the GOC’s CPD scheme – launched at the beginning of 2022.

Dr Ian Beasley, AOP Head of Education, said: “100% Optical’s education programme has been designed by the AOP with the GOC’s new CPD scheme in mind. With over 130 different sessions to choose from, world leading experts brought in by the AOP, and plenty of networking events throughout the show, 100% Optical provides the perfect opportunity for registrants to advance their career.”

Outside of the education programme, organisers are preparing for an exciting exhibition with a host of suppliers and world-renowned eyewear brands featuring.

Further details on all sessions and visitor registration is available on the 100% Optical website, www.100percentoptical.com
