Stub it out - How to get involved

Encourage more smokers to stop for good and help protect their sight by sharing our campaign resources

Woman smoking

For our Stub it out campaign, we’ve put together digital and printable resources to help you spread the word about the importance of stopping smoking to protect eye health.

The easiest way to get involved is to download our campaign pack which includes images and an animated GIF for social media, posters and an information leaflet.

Making the most of your campaign materials

There are lots of ways to get involved in our Stub it out campaign and we need your help to spread the word. To help you get started we’ve compiled some tips:

Images and animated GIF for social media

Social media is a great way to spread the word — you can use our banner, mid-page unit (MPU) or animated GIF on social media, along with a link to www.aop.org.uk/stubitout, using the hashtag #StubItOut. Don’t forget to ask your friends, family and patients to do the same.

And, if you have a blog or a personal website, you can use the banner and MPU to help promote the campaign. Simply upload it in the same way you would any image and link to www.aop.org.uk/stubitout.

We will also be sharing social media posts from Tuesday 2 July – find us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.

'Cheat sheet' for social media

If you’re looking for some inspiration on what to post, read our suggested content for social media – which includes ideas for posts.

Patient leaflet

Give yourself, or someone you know, another reason to stop smoking by reading our information leaflet, which explains what sight threatening conditions smokers are at a higher risk of developing. It’s never too late to stop, but the sooner you do, the better the outcome is likely to be.
