Tell us about your student or pre-registration experiences

We’re keen to hear from optometrists who are currently a student or undertaking their pre-registration placement by taking part in our survey.

Why we’re asking

In 2020, we surveyed student and pre-registration optometrists and heard that many of you were delayed in starting your placements, and therefore in reaching your college assessment.

While we’re aware that it is an improving picture, there are still issues with members gaining pre-registration placements. We want to understand this more, by hearing about your direct experiences and find out how things are going for you.

The survey takes no longer than six minutes to complete and will focus on your personal experience of obtaining a pre-registration placement and support services you have used.

What findings will be used for

This survey will add to evidence that gives us a fuller picture of your experiences as a student or pre-registration optometrist. We will use the evidence when we talk to the GOC and other decision-makers about the future of optometry education as well as help inform our support services and benefits for you.

Your anonymity

Any information we use will be completely anonymised and we won’t be able to identify who has provided individual survey responses.
