Don't swerve a sight test

Campaign highlighting the importance of good vision for driving

DSaST_news_header

We’ve launched our inaugural campaign on vision standards for driving ahead of this Road Safety Week – taking place 20 – 26 November.

The Don’t Swerve a sight test campaign advocates that all drivers have a sight test every two years to maximise their eye health and help reduce the risk of accidents on UK roads.

In line with our position statement, we’re also calling for a change in the law which will see motorists prove that their vision meets the legal standard before being granted a licence and then every 10 years to coincide with licence renewal.

We’re calling on optics to support and as part of the campaign, a series of materials have been released to members, and the public, to help promote the initiative. Our animated advice video, new patient leaflet and digital assets supports our media campaign targeting national, broadcast and trade press.

Members can get involved by hosting one of our Don’t swerve a sight test campaign banners on their website or social media channels, which can be downloaded from the member campaign area of our website.

Our Facebook and Twitter accounts will also feature posts that can be shared easily – find us on Facebook or follow us on @The_AOP.

You can also visit our public campaign page to see how we’re encouraging the public to get involved.
