We are delighted to announce the launch of Product of the Year, a new AOP Awards category for 2017. For the first time, the winner in this category will be chosen solely by the profession – with voting open exclusively to AOP members.

Product of the Year will recognise recent, or recently updated, products that have successfully met the demands of the optical sector during the past three years. The award is designed to give those in the profession the chance to celebrate product innovations that have improved their practice and patient care.

The 2017 Product of the Year shortlist reflects the range of innovation in today’s optical industry. Dr Ian Beasley, AOP’s Head of Education, said: “It was extremely difficult to narrow down our list from the high volume of credible entries received but we feel the final six really do illustrate the best of what’s on the market. It’s now down to the profession to decide their winner”.

The Product of the Year shortlist are:

  • Dailies Total1 Multifocal, Alcon
  • DriveSafe Lenses, Carl Zeiss Vision
  • Ocular Response Analyzer G3, Reichert Technologies and Grafton Optical
  • BlephEx, Scope Ophthalmics
  • Clinical Eye Tracker, Thomson Software Solutions
  • Triton OCT, Topcon

AOP members will receive an email with their unique voting link on Friday 14 October.

Product of the Year is one of 13 categories that showcase the breadth of important work being carried out by the optical sector UK-wide. The winners will be announced at a black tie awards ceremony on Sunday 5 February 2017.
