Practitioners attending the joint American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and World Council of Optometry (WCO) conference in Florida, US this October will have the opportunity to collect CET and COPE points for the first time.

To be held at the West Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando on 23–27 October, CET and COPE points will be offered for each day of the five-day conference and has been organised through support from the WCO.

Organisers confirmed that CET has been approved for optometrists, dispensing opticians and therapeutic optometrists.

UK optometrist and WCO member, Karen Sparrow has been assisting conference organisers in the UK CET approval process. She commented: “It is great to have CET points available at this year’s joint AAO/WCO meeting. The peer review requirement in particular is hard to find if you live outside the UK, so this is a great opportunity for those registrants based in other countries to gain this particular type of CET, alongside gaining points for the AAO and WCO sessions they already plan to attend.”
