University of Plymouth celebrates students' achievements

The optometry department hosted its Big Optometry Event last week

Plymouth OpSoc meeting
The University of Plymouth’s optometry department welcomed new and returning students back with its annual Big Optometry Event last week (18 September).

The prize giving event recognises the highest achievers from the previous academic year while looking ahead to the new year.

Awards totalling over £4000 were donated by industry sponsors and included ophthalmoscope sets, Volk lenses and gift vouchers.

Optometry programme lead at the University of Plymouth, Dr Stephanie Mroczkowska, said: “We are very proud of the achievements of all our students and our Big Optometry Event is a lovely way to celebrate the successes of the last academic year and to look forward to the year ahead.”

“Our student optometry society continues to grow from strength to strength and the support we get from the sponsors is fantastic. We couldn’t put on events like this without them. It really is one big team effort,” Dr Mroczkowska added.
