LOCSU head appointed chair of England Vision Strategy
The chief operating officer of the Local Optical Committee Support Unit was appointed to the role at the England Vision Strategy conference
29 June 2019
The Local Optical Committee Support Unit’s (LOCSU) chief operating officer, Richard Whittington, has been appointed chair of the England Vision Strategy.
Mr Whittington joined LOCSU in June 2016 with experience as a Clinical Commissioning Group director and acute trust director.
He has previously led commissioning of primary care ophthalmic services across a range of South East London Primary Care Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups.
Mr Whittington said he is “delighted” to be appointed to the organisation as chair.
“The published aims of the strategy resonate with the restructuring objectives within the NHS, and other organisations, through the bringing together of commissioning and delivery across all facets of eyecare and sight loss provision,” he highlighted.
“I am looking forward to helping to drive the strategy to address the needs of all patients and service users within the reformed structures and beyond working with partners across the sector,” Mr Whittington added.
