Vision Express has become a member of Optometry Scotland, joining optical groups such as Specsavers, Boots Opticians, Duncan and Todd, and Black & Lizars.

Optometry Scotland represents Scotland’s optical sector with Scottish Government, sharing its opinions and concerns with Parliament, Government Health Directorates and other stakeholders. It lobbies for better support for community eye care, enhanced status for the profession and additional funding for enhanced eye care services.

It is also the first point of contact for optical services for all health officials and external bodies in Scotland.

With 44 practices across Scotland, Vision Express is the third largest opticians group to join the body.

Welcoming the multiple, chair of Optometry Scotland, Samantha Watson, said: “There is strength in numbers and having the opportunity to represent the industry in its entirety. With this latest addition, we now proudly represent the vast majority of Scotland’s major optical practices, as well as a significant number of independent opticians.”

On joining, director of professional services at Vision Express, Dan McGhee, said that the multiple was committed to providing Optometry Scotland with the required support to advance world-class eye care in Scotland.
