The British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) is calling for clinical submissions for its 2019 Diane Gould Photography Competition.

Entries can be submitted until 3 May and the winner will be announced during the BCLA Clinical Conference and Exhibition in Manchester on 1 June.

The competition was established in honour of contact lens practitioner Diane Gould who passed away in 2013. Passionate about contact lenses, Ms Gould fitted her first lens in 1985. During her career, she attended 20 BCLA conferences.

In 2003 she became director of David Gould Opticians alongside her husband. Mr Gould shared that “even after she was unable to see clients personally, she continued to take an active interest and offer valuable input using the practice's image capture facilities.”

BCLA president, Professor Sunil Shah, said: “We are delighted to name the BCLA Photographic Award in Diane’s honour and look forward to receiving a high standard of submissions and the competition is sure to be strong.”

Entries submitted will later be made available to members of the BCLA through its online image library.
