Alcon’s head of professional affairs, Jonathon Bench, has been nominated as president elect of the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA).
Mr Bench has been a BCLA member for 12 years, serving on its committee for five years and joining its executive council last year.
Speaking about his appointment, Mr Bench said: “It is the ‘everyday heroes’ within practices that transform the lives of those, going above and beyond the needs of their patients, to correct their vision, I want to celebrate and encourage them to acknowledge what they do with contact lenses every day.”
Since graduating from Cardiff University, the optometrist worked at a multiple and owned a franchise practice before joining Alcon in 2013.
“The BCLA brings expertise from the world of academia and research into the world of the eye health opticians in practice and, most importantly, for the benefit of their patients,” Mr Bench added.
