The online journal Clinical Optometry has been accepted for indexing on PubMed, acknowledging the scientific quality of the papers that it publishes.

The peer-reviewed, open access journal, which is published by Dove Medical Press, was established in 2009. While it focuses on a wide range of clinical optometry, the journal publishes both clinical reviews and original research, with all papers that it receives undergoing a rigorous peer review process.

Speaking about achieving PudMed indexing, optometrist and editor-in-chief of Clinical Optometry, Simon Berry, said: “This is an important leap forward for a journal that began with humble beginnings. It began life as a sister journal to Clinical Ophthalmology, when some of the articles submitted were more suited to an optometric audience. It now publishes a diverse range of both peer reviewed original research and high-quality clinical reviews. It is heartening that the scientific quality of these articles, and the peer review process, has been proven to be of a high enough standard for archiving.”
