Chair of Brien Holden Vision Institute resigns
Professor Brian Layland steps down as chair and director at the Institute

Professor Brian Layland has resigned as chair and director of board at the Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI). The resignation is effective from 31 October.
Frank Back has been elected as new chair and Sandra Bailey has taken on Professor Layland’s functions and powers as alternate director with immediate effect. Ms Bailey will be formally appointed to the board at a general meeting on 31 October.
Professor Layland has also resigned as a member of both the BHVI and the BHVI Foundation, with immediate effect.
Speaking about the changes, CEO of the BHVI, Yvette Waddell said: “New chair of the Institute, Frank Back, joins me and our fellow directors in expressing our profound gratitude to Brian for his leadership and significant contribution to the Institute over more than 30 years. Professor Layland will remain closely involved with the Institute. He will continue his consultancy role and we are delighted to announce that Brian has accepted a new position as patron of the BHVI.”
