Eyewear launches announced ahead of Silmo

The optical exhibition takes place in Paris this weekend and will feature launches from eyewear companies, including Komono, Zoobug London and Safarro

Silmo Eyewear

Eyewear companies are set to launch new collections this weekend as Silmo 2018 returns to the French capital (28 September–1 October).

Speaking to OT ahead of the show earlier this year, director of Silmo, Eric Lenoir, said that the event will be “so much more than a trade fair.”

“Silmo is an incredible marketplace, a sort of annual high mass addressing the entire optical and eyewear industry,” he shared.

Plans have already been announced by De Rigo, TD Tom Davies and Marcolin, and now details have been shared by brands, such as Ic! Berlin, Coco Song and La Matta.

Komono’s autumn–winter 2018 spectacles collection (pictured above) will launch, which features clean lines and design with inspiration taken from architectural structures.

Zoobug London will launch its spring–summer 2019 sunglasses collection. The styles include ‘Panda,’ which has been nominated for a Silmo d’Or award

Area98 will showcase the new Coco Song collection, which draws inspiration from oriental colours and combines silk and dried flowers with acetate.

Ic! Berlin has promised to take attendees to the movies with its new Cinematik collection, which is inspired by film character archetypes.

Mykita will launch new additions to its Mykita Mylon, Mykita Studio and Lessrim ranges, as well as a new project with Maison Margiela.

Silmo Safarro

The new collection from Safarro will be on show (pictured above). It has been inspired by the typewriter Lettera 22 by Olivetti, which the eyewear company said encouraged woman’s independence and revolutionised the position of woman at work.
