The annual American education conference, SECO, will move to New Orleans in 2019.

To be hosted at New Orleans Ernest Morial Convention Centre on 20–24 February, SECO International confirmed that it will be the first time that the event has been held outside of Atlanta since 1957.

The move is “an opportunity to recraft its offering to ensure that the event is serving the needs of the opportunity community,” organisers highlighted.

During the four-day conference, delegates will have access to more than 50 hours of education covering a range of topics including, improving procedures used to treat patients and running a successful practice.

New sessions will be introduced on the Saturday and Sunday of the conference in order to help delegates meet all of their annual educational requirements by visiting just one show.

President of SECO International, Emilio Balius, said: “A fresh new location has given us the impetus to reimagine the event strategy to ensure the show is providing the optometry community with the most up-to-date sessions that will highlight emerging protocols and provide them with business tips necessary for practice success.”

An exhibition running alongside the educational sessions will feature around 250 companies.

Registration for the event opens on October 1.
