Education bursary offered by Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers

The £1000 bursary is providing financial support to students at the start of their education programme

The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM) Education Trust has launched its third bursary award scheme, which helps students cover the costs of qualification.

The £1000 bursary is designed to help keep talented students in optics by providing financial support at the start of their education programme.

Open to students who are starting UK optical training courses this autumn, applicants must explain what inspired their interest in a particular part of the profession and how the bursary can make a difference to their studies.

Chairman of the WCSM Education Trust, Professor Chris Hull, said: “It is really important that we keep working to attract talented individuals into all branches of optics for the future of the professions. We have seen inspiring applications and we are excited to see what the 2018 applications will hold.”

In the past two years of the scheme, bursaries have been awarded to recipients from over 10 different training institutions, including students from City, University of London (pictured).
