The annual conference hosted industry speakers as well as eyewear exhibitors

SECO 2018

Attendance increased by 5% at SECO International, which took place in Atlanta from 28 February–4 March.

The annual event hosted eye care professionals from 17 countries to learn about the latest research, innovations, treatment protocols and techniques in the profession.

SECO International featured around 400 hours of education, peer-to-peer networking and a chance to see the latest eyewear trends.

OT’s clinical editor, Dr Ian Beasley, said: “Alongside the extensive clinical programme on offer, SECO 2018 provided some excellent sessions from high profile speakers on communication skills, website design and the importance of happiness in the workplace. AOP members who were unable to attend the event had the privilege of being able to stream these key sessions live from Atlanta.”

Speakers included CEO of Delivering Happiness, Jenn Lim, and president of the Compliancy Group, Mark Haskelson. Exhibiting eyewear companies included Face a Face, Ray-Ban and Ralph Lauren.

President of SECO International, Emilio Balius, who was formally introduced as the new president at the event, said: “The conference continues to deliver on its mission to support the industry and provide an inspiring platform to unite the community for knowledge sharing and an opportunity to enrich their passion. I look forward to continuing the tradition to build this great conduit for learning.”

SECO 2019 will take place in New Orleans on 20–24 February before turning to Atlanta in 2020.
