Vision Expo East showcases latest innovations

New launches in eyewear and equipment are being showcased this weekend in New York

OT rounds up some of the new product launches that will be exhibited at Vision Expo East, which takes place from 15–18 March at the Javits Centre in New York.

Italian eyewear company Safilo will be showcasing the new collections from its Safilo, Carrera, Polaroid and Smith brands.

Safilo highlighted Carrera’s tank hinge design concept, which ensures lightweight, flexible and comfortable fitting frames.

Aston EyeTech’s ophthalmic instruments brand, Eyoto, will launch the eMap – a new tool for the optical lab and retailer that incorporates power mapping and lens surface inspection, as well as full refractive index and coating checks.

CEO of Aston EyeTech, Carl Francis, explained: “This is a fast, one button system that checks lens design, corridor width and height, reading zone fit, frame suitability, lens surface damage, manufacturing defects, and more.”

Lunetterie Générale is exhibiting limited edition frames from its Chapter 2 Collection, which have been made in Japan.

The eyewear company explained that its frames are “for the considered individual who is eager for distinction and panache.”

Cape Town-based eyewear company, David Green Eyewear, will be in the Galleria displaying its frames that are developed using real leaves and reeds.

MEI will showcase its latest developments in optical lens shaping machinery, focusing on its EzFit – an all-in-one edger for small labs and optical shops.
