The Clinical Council for Eye Health Commissioning (CCEHC) has appointed Parul Desai as its chair following a vote by its members.

Ms Desai (pictured left) took over from outgoing chair, David Parkins (pictured right), on 29 June. Mr Parkins will serve as vice-chair.

The CCEHC provides expertise from eye health professional, patient and representative bodies to those involved in the commissioning of eye health services in England.

Ms Desai emphasised to OT that she was proud to be chair of a body with vast collective knowledge.

A key priority for the consultant ophthalmologist is to strengthen relationships across professional bodies.

“I look forward to working with NHS England, Local Eye Health Network chairs, STPs, CCGs, and the range of providers within eye health to develop improved co-ordination and integration between services,” she highlighted.

Mr Parkins told OT that the CCEHC is a key voice in promoting eye health commissioning to deliver improved services for patients.

“It’s been a privilege to serve as chair of the CCEHC, which has achieved a great deal in terms of collaboration and output,” he concluded.
