Optical practices and practitioners have until the end of June to apply for an NHS mail account before a waiver from completing the full NHS mail checklist lapses.
A statement on the Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU) website highlighted: “If you have not already obtained an NHS mail account, it would be sensible to obtain an NHS mail account before the end of June deadline.”
GOS contractors can make an application for an NHS mail account online.
Following the pandemic, NHS England and NHS Digital created new batches of NHS mail accounts for practices and practitioners to improve connectivity and enable the profession to access COVID-19 response resources.
From 1 July the NHS mail data protection and security toolkit will be retired by NHS Digital.
Those applying for an NHS mail account will be required to complete a full optical data protection and security toolkit through Quality in Optometry (QiO) or on the NHS Digital website.
