SpaMedica has treated its 5000th NHS patient at its hospital in Bolton and celebrated the milestone with the patient Ann Peel from Harwood (pictured with the hospital team).

Since opening in March 2017, the hospital team has conducted 8000 surgeries on 5000 patients with around half of patients requiring surgery on both eyes.

SpaMedica hospital manager at Bolton, Jade Horsfield, said: “To have reached 5000 patients is truly a great landmark for us. We pride ourselves on the care we provide to each and every one of our patients, it means a lot to us that we are improving vision and, ultimately, the quality of life for thousands of our patients.”

Ms Peel received cataract surgery at SpaMedica in October after she was referred from Boots Opticians. Her post-operation vision has improved from 6/48 to 7/7.5.

Staff at the hospital presented a certificate to Ms Peel, who said that she would celebrate her improved vision by having lunch with a friend, followed by Christmas shopping to buy advent calendars for her four grandchildren.
