Scotland’s first urban eye test has been launched in Falkirk.
A description of the initiative on the Forth Valley Sensory Centre website highlights that vinyl panels are placed at distance where someone with 6/6 vision can read the time on The Steeple in Falkirk.
The panels encourage pedestrians to see if they can read the time on the landmark.
“If you were not able to read the exact time on the clock this suggests that either you need glasses, or that you need a change of prescription,” Forth Valley Sensory Centre highlighted.
“Even if you could read the exact time on the clock, it is still important to have regular eye tests. This is because many eye conditions have no early symptoms,” the statement added.
The project was funded by The Scottish Government’s See Hear Strategy and delivered by Falkirk Council, NHS Forth Valley, Forth Valley Sensory Centre and RNIB Scotland.
In October last year, a London initiative encouraged members of the public to check their eyesight using landmarks.
Floor panels were installed around Brick Lane, Shoreditch and Spitalfields Market.
