Tessa Green will take up the role in June

New chair of Moorfields Eye Hospital, Tessa Green CBE

Moorfields Eye Hospital has announced the appointment of Tessa Green CBE as chair. She will take up her post in June.

Ms Green joins the hospital with a background in healthcare, having previously served as chair of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and trustee of the Institute of Cancer Research from 1998 –2010. During her time as chair of The Royal Marsden, Ms Green led the organisation to become a first-wave foundation trust and the UK’s only specialist NIHR Biomedical Research Centre for cancer.

In addition to her NHS and other health-related leadership experience, Ms Green has experience in the commercial and voluntary sectors. She is a non-executive director of a FTSE 250 retailer and a Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry trustee. She also previously worked as head of corporate communications for a FTSE 100 media company.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Green said: "I am inspired by the excellent eye treatment and services Moorfields provides to over half a million patients. World-class ophthalmic research and education and the development of a 32-site network show its continual commitment to innovate for patients. I am looking forward to joining the team.”
