In the flurry of activity leading up to Friday’s (25 May) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), an event that few would have predicted has taken place.
Last-minute interest in the information overhaul has seen more people reach for their computer keyboard to search ‘GDPR’ than a woman with more than 100 million followers on Instagram.
Quartz reported that Google search volumes for GDPR overtook Beyonce in anticipation of the 25 May deadline.
The AOP has highlighted that under GDPR every optical practice needs to make available to patients clear and accessible information about how it collects and processes personal data, and about the rights that individuals have over their data.
A new template privacy notice is available for AOP members, as well as guidance on the impact of the regulation.
