AOP launches hybrid working and menopause template policies
The new editable templates have been created to support AOP employer members
14 October 2021
The AOP has released two new template policies for employer members, covering hybrid working and the menopause.
The AOP’s in-house employment law team created the new editable template policies to support employer members in ensuring their workplace policies adhere to current employment law.
With many workplaces committing to flexible working and hybrid arrangements, the new hybrid working template policy outlines how employers can make arrangements on a discretionary basis, without the need for a formal statutory request.
The policy aims to ensure those with a hybrid working arrangement are treated equally to those based in the workplace. It also sets out conditions which allow for hybrid working and the terms that apply.
The template menopause policy aims to raise awareness of the menopause and encourage open conversations, helping employers who are committed to supporting affected staff.
Introducing the menopause template policy, the AOP said: “Workplaces should be committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive working environment for all staff.”
The AOP added that anyone affected by the menopause should feel able to talk to their line manager or Human Resources about their symptoms and any support they may need to reduce any difficulties at work.
The AOP’s template policies for employer members can be found on the website, along with policies covering topics such as maternity, disciplinary, and sickness absence.
The templates can act as a guide and include all the information employers need to give employees. The documents also indicate areas which can be edited according to the specific workplace.
For questions on hybrid working, menopause and work, or advice regarding specific employment circumstances, the AOP’s employment law team can be contacted via email.
