Big Blind Walk gains support from 100% Optical

A 1000 mile walk will take place in April to promote eye research

Big Blind Walk

Industry trade show 100% Optical has pledged to help raise awareness of eye research at the January (27–29) event in support of the Big Blind Walk 2018.

The walk is held in collaboration with eye research social enterprise, VisionBridge, and official partner, the National Eye Research Centre. It is being sponsored by 100% Optical and sight loss product manufacturer, Second Sight.

Founder of VisionBridge, Julian Jackson, said: “Sadly, eye research is one of the best kept secrets in the UK, despite all the impressive breakthroughs and developments over the last 50 years. But with the help of 100% Optical, we hope to change this.”

The 1000 mile walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats commences on 29 April 2018 for seven weeks. It aims to increase understanding of sight loss, promote eye research and create a new fund for translational research.

Event director of 100% Optical, Nathan Garnett, said: “We want to support and enhance the optical sector and this is the perfect cause for us to champion this year. The show is more than just an industry event, it has always aimed to provide a thought leadership platform and influential voice for eye health innovation.”

“We’re really looking forward to donning our walking shoes to join in next April,” he added.
