AOP partners with Optix to promote patient resources

The Association's suite of patient leaflets and resources will be available through Optix Software

Eye disease advice

The AOP has announced that its range of patient resources will be made available through the next release of Optix Software.

Designed to ensure that accredited eye health information is more widely available, the Association’s suite of resources currently include 17 patient leaflets that contain advice on managing symptoms and eye care tips, as well as a number of 60 second advice videos.

The patient leaflets are downloaded more than 1600 times from the AOP website during some months.

Optometrist and clinical director at the AOP, Dr Peter Hampson, said: “The AOP is committed to increasing public awareness around eye health, which is why our patient resources are freely available to all, regardless of membership.”

“We’re delighted to be working with Optix Software to increase awareness and use of the leaflets, and the understanding of good eye health more broadly,” he added.

All patient leaflets have been approved by the Plain English Campaign and are endorsed by NHS Choices, which directs its website users to them.

Commenting on the collaboration, managing director of Optix Software, Trevor Rowley, said: “We’re thrilled to be further supporting our independent practice-owning customers and the AOP in its drive to make sure patients have full access to this high-quality and invaluable resource.”
