AOP at 100% Optical

AOP shares plans for 100% Optical this weekend (ExCeL London, 6–8 February)

100% Optical display

With the start of the new continuing education and training (CET) cycle under way, the sector’s trade show – 100% Optical – provides the perfect opportunity to obtain all CET points for the first year under one roof. The show, held at the London ExCeL on 6–8 February, offers a comprehensive educational programme delivered by the AOP, with keynote lectures each day from leading international experts.

During the three-day event, a series of CET-accredited sessions will take place in the ‘AOP lounge’, a member-only education space on the AOP stand (W300). These include Building your powers of persuasion and Mastering workplace communication – short career workshops which aim to give attendees the opportunity to build business skills. The workshops will share the agenda with peer discussion sessions and practical information on making General Optical Council claims.

AOP members also have the opportunity to benefit from face-to-face advice at the event. The Association will be offering drop-in legal advice from its team of in-house experts, as well as career one-to-one sessions with dedicated career specialists.

Clinical talks aimed at pre-registration students will take place in the AOP lounge throughout the event, including a clinical decision-making workshop with Kevin Wallace, AOP Councillor for Scotland. In addition to this, Dr Catherine Porter will be running a session entitled The ABC of BV – back to basics with binocular vision.

Commenting on the AOP’s involvement in the show, Henrietta Alderman, chief executive of the AOP, said: “Our partnership to deliver 100% Optical with Media 10 – whose track record at running large international exhibitions is truly impressive – allows the AOP to invest further in our members and assists in our contributions to charities and initiatives that benefit the whole profession.”

In order to make the most of the exclusive benefits at 100% Optical, members are reminded to bring their AOP pin badge which will be distributed with the AOP’s 2016 CET and events programme in mid January. To book a career one-to-one session, AOP members should visit the AOP website. For all other session bookings, and to register for 100% Optical, members should visit the 100% Optical website where – unless they are a student or a lecturer – they should register as a trade visitor. Registration is free.
