A partnership that aims to raise awareness of the importance of eye health and drive policy change has been named as a finalist in the 2022 Pharmaceutical Market Excellence Awards (PMEA).

The Eyes Have It is a finalist in the Excellence in Collaboration and Partnerships category.

The partnership is a collaboration between the Association of Optometrists, Macular Society, Fight for Sight, The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Royal National Institute of Blind People and Roche Products Ltd.

Since its formation, The Eyes Have It has organised two parliamentary events to raise the profile of eye health. Calls from the sector bodies have resulted in the appointment of a national clinical director for eye care.

At the most recent Westminster Eye Health Day, the partnership called on MPs to establish a national plan for eye care in England.

In response to the announcement of the shortlist, AOP policy director, Carolyn Ruston shared: “I’m delighted The Eyes Have It has been selected as a finalist for this award. It is testament to the commitment of the eye health sector partners involved, Roche, and Ovid Health to drive improvement in eye health in the UK.”

The PMEA awards “recognise and commend excellence, best practice and innovation in European, international and local markets.”

The winners of the PMEA awards will be announced at a ceremony on 23 November at the Sheraton Grand London in Park Lane.
