Optometrist and Dispensing Optician volunteers

Can you help? Vision Care for Homeless People is in search for volunteers for our two London opticians services for people affected by homelessness.

One is in the Doctors of the World Clinic in Stratford, E15, on Thursdays, and the other in the Crisis Skylight Centre, Spitalfields, E1, on Mondays and Wednesdays, running for half a day with 35-minute testing.

We welcome optometrists who can volunteer to test regularly, say once every month or six weeks. They will need to register to volunteer with us and there is mandatory training to complete. We provide online training on our patient management system. If regular volunteering isn’t feasible for an optometrist, we may have other roles where we can use your skills on the branch support team.

The clinic assistant/manager role often suits newly-qualified and/or dispensing opticians, or someone who works part time or is retired or semi-retired who can volunteer twice a month or weekly. The team at each clinic comprises one optometrist and two assistants.

If you are interested, please complete a Tell Me More form online.

If applying for this role, please mention that you saw the advert on the OT website.
