The Association of Optometrists (AOP) is the leading optometry membership organisation in the UK, providing high quality services and benefits to enable our members to fulfil their professional roles.
We are recruiting a Clinical and Regulatory Advisor to support the Professional Advisor within the AOP’s legal and regulatory directorate. This role is to provide maternity cover, starting in February 2019, and will run for a minimum of nine months. The term could be extended to 12 months.
As part of a small team, you will be responsible for: providing advice and guidance on clinical and regulatory matters to the AOP’s staff and members and answer member queries; monitoring relevant UK and EU legislation affecting the sector in the UK and updating clinical and regulatory information on the AOP’s website; and assisting in the formulation of policy papers, clinical advice and responses to consultations by governments and other relevant authorities and bodies.
The successful candidate will have worked extensively post qualification in practice as a GOC-registered optometrist, possess a professional background that includes experience of advising, supervising or mentoring optometric peers in a clinical setting, and current experience of community optometric practice. Your communications skills will allow you to produce reports, policies and internal briefing papers on complex areas, and your clear and friendly telephone manner is required to deliver advice to members effectively.
