Bayfields Opticians and Audiologists has acquired two optical groups, Robert Stanley (Opticians) Limited and Prism Partnership Limited.
The latest acquisitions brings the number of practices within the Bayfields group to 41.
Prism operates five practices across the North West. These include the original business established by Nigel and Jean Oldbury, Oldbury & Cruickshank Optometrists in Macclesfield, as well as I Wear Opticians practices in Nantwich and Tarporley, and Broad Opticians sites in Alsager and Sandbach.
The Oldburys will retire from the business following the handover and the I Wear Nantwich practice has closed as part of the acquisition, with the practice team and clients transferring to Bayfields existing practice in the area.
Co-owned by John Edwards and Jerry Salmon, Robert Stanley has five practices across the Oxford area, including in Bicester, Abingdon, Thame, Headington and Wallingford.
Salmon, the son of the original founder of the business, Donald Salmon, will retire from his role on the acquisition, while Edwards will continue in his position.
Commenting on the move, Edwards highlighted Bayfields’ “unequivocal focus on the community and clients,” adding: “We’re delighted to be joining the Bayfields family and have every confidence that the business Jerry and I have worked hard to build in recent years will continue to thrive under the Bayfields banner.”
Robert Stanley and Prism mark the latest in a number of practices purchased by Bayfields in 2022, including 11 practices acquired in March across London, the South and South East, the North West, and Yorkshire.
Royston Bayfield, founder and CEO of Bayfields Opticians and Audiologists, welcomed the Robert Stanley and Prism teams, describing them as “two excellent businesses that are well-established, trusted and have strong brand recognition in their local communities.”
With the business on track to reach its growth target of 50 practices by the end of 2023, Bayfield said: “So far, 2022 has exceeded all expectations, in terms of our drive toward the half century milestone by the end of 2023, and our ambitions to be a recognised independent brand in key locations up and down the country.”
