Optometrists Simon Donne and Simon Browning have merged their practices to create a “premier independent eye care destination” in Bedford.

The practices, which are both part of the Hakim Group, have joined forces to become Donne and Browning Opticians and Hearing Care with a re-opening taking place on 15 July.

Mr Donne’s practice has been refurbished to accommodate the merger and features the latest retinal scanning equipment and an eyewear range of designer brands.

The optometrists, who have been friends since meeting at City, University of London in 1978, have combined their clinical specialities to provide ultra-widefield and auto-fluorescent imaging with a contact lens offering.

Speaking about the merger, Mr Browning said: “We can’t wait for our loyal patients to be part of this new and exciting move, which guarantees they will continue to receive the highest standard of care, with the added benefits that Simon’s team will provide.”

Mr Donne added: “Simon and I have known each other for many years and I believe our personal skills and the attributes of our respective teams will complement each other perfectly.”

“The refurbishment will also ensure that the highest level of modern equipment is available to our patients and the wider community, in addition to the best eyewear brands we have on offer,” he said.
