Specsavers launches mental health awareness workshops
Staff at the multiple will learn about business and personal benefits of promoting positive mental health
08 July 2019
Specsavers has created a series of half-day workshops to provide mental health awareness training for its staff across the UK and Ireland.
Over 50 workshops will be held over the next three months with 800 people attending at locations such as Chester, Dublin and Bristol.
UK human resources director at Specsavers, Dawn McIntyre, said: “One in four people in the UK and Ireland experience mental health problems – that’s potentially 25% of our workforce. That is why we’re providing training workshops for our Specsavers teams to equip them with the knowledge and practical skills required to confidently manage mental ill health in the workplace.”
The workshops will include topics such as understanding key mental health concepts, business and personal benefits of promoting positive mental health and effective management of mental health-related workplace issues.
Online training materials will also be available for staff who would like to pass on their knowledge to the wider practice team.
