Salisbury and Amesbury-based independent Memory Opticians has been nominated for the Excellence in Customer Service Award in the South Wilts Business of the Year Awards.

Nominations were made by members of the public, with the winners due to be announced at a ceremony at City Hall in Salisbury on 20 June .

Director and managing partner of Memory Opticians, Katie Memory, said: “We’re really pleased to be nominated in this particular award category because if you are seen to be delivering a high level of patient care, you know you’re doing a good job. Customer service encapsulates everything we do as a business.”

“It’s something we discuss every single day, but customer service can only be put into practice by people who take it seriously, so I’d like to thank the whole team for working so well together,” she added.

The practice, which is part of the Hakim Group, is one of seven finalists in the category and will receive a visit from the judges.

Ms Memory shared that she has been humbled by the comments made by patients during the nomination process.

Comments praised the practice’s “excellent, friendly and professional service” and highlighted that patients are “looked after as more than just a person, nearly as a family member.”

“It almost brought a tear to my eye,” Ms Memory said.
