Bayfields Opticians launches audiology offering
The independent opticians is piloting hearing care in a number of its practices
17 October 2018
Bayfields Opticians has launched an audiology service in five of its 18 practices.
The establishment of the service forms part of the business’ wider audiology goal to introduce hearing care across its entire practice portfolio over the next 12 months.
The service is currently being piloted in Huddersfield, Yeadon, Harrogate, Wakefield and Clitheroe.
Speaking to OT, head of audiology at Bayfields Opticians, Paul Jackson, explained that the business would be reviewing the pilot in the new year before launching the service in an additional five practices. “The idea with this phased approach is that we will launch in a further five practices each time until it is available in all practices within the next 12 months,” he said.
Mr Jackson explained that the initial five practices that now offer audiology were chosen because they are all “very different.”
“We have chosen these five practices because they are all very different in terms of location, database size and client demographic. They will therefore provide us with a good overview of how the service delivers in a mix of settings,” Mr Jackson shared.
The opticians will be offering its hearing care customers a free seven-day trial, which Mr Jackson highlighted makes the new service unique. “The free trial is a very important part of our customer journey,” he said, adding: “We don’t want clients to feel under pressure when they come for a hearing test. Therefore, they can take the aids away with them and try them in their day-to-day lives. This gives them the opportunity to hear the difference of sounds such as their partner or the television, which they can only really do by putting them in their ears and trialing them.”
