Tesco Clubcard holders are being offered £10 eye tests in any Vision Express practice across the UK from 3 October.

The partnership between the multiple and the supermarket chain has been established in order to encourage the public to take their eye health seriously, it said.

CEO of Vision Express, Jonathan Lawson, explained: “We know that 13.8 million adults in the UK don’t have their eyes checked regularly, despite the NHS recommendation of every two years, and that indicates a growing long-term problem of sight loss in this country. We are trying to highlight the message that a regular eye test is crucial to safeguarding vision for life.”

This year Vision Express has opened in 200 Tesco supermarkets following the estimated £90m acquisition last year.

Tesco membership and loyalty director, Tash Whitmey, said: “Clubcard is one of the ways we say thank you to our customers and we’re delighted to offer our members a little help in partnership with Vision Express. We know eye health is important to our customers and we hope they take up this offer to receive a discounted eye test, just by simply showing their card.”

There are 17 million Tesco Clubcard holders across the UK.

During NEHW this week, Vision Express’ mobile testing facility, the Vision Van, has taken to the road and is making stops on High Street’s across the UK to raise awareness of the importance of eye health and offer free sight tests.
