Optical Express has raised £14,651 for Sightsavers from an initiative that it launched on World Sight Day last year as part of its long-term commitment to the charity.
The multiple made a donation to the international eye care charity for each lens surgery booked between 12 October–30 November 2017.
The money raised will go towards Sightsavers’ work in developing countries to help support children and adults with visual impairments.
Marketing manager at Optical Express, Mary-Frances Kelly, presented corporate relationships manager at Sightsavers, Ed Hennessy, with a cheque this month at Glasgow restaurant and spa, 200 St Vincent Street (pictured).
Ms Kelly said: “A donation of £30 is what it costs Sightsavers to perform life-changing cataract surgery in developing countries across the world. We’re delighted that through this initial fundraising initiative we have raised over £14,651 and will be able to give the gift of sight to hundreds of people.”
Mr Hennessy added: “We’re thrilled to have been able to work with Optical Express and raise such a substantial donation. This will really make a difference to so many people’s lives and we’re looking forward to continuing working with them over the next year.”
